Choosing a Uni - Help!
Hello
Although I am not actually a "UK teen", I thought it would be more beneficial for myself to poste this here rather than on a Canadian site. I'm 17 years old and I live in Canada and in two months my family will be relocating to the UK. My mother was fortunate enough to find a job overseas and will be leaving the first week of July. It has always been a dream of mine to live in the UK...which is why I applied to a number of universities in England (and also in Canada in case I wasn't accepted) . I recieved acceptances from Kent, Sheffield,Notingham Trent, Lancaster and also from a number of universities in Canada. The only problem is, that I CAN only go to a university in the UK if I recieve the proper funding I need (since I do not have the money to pay for overseas tuition - I'd be in debt forever!). To apply for the funding, I need to decide on only one british university and have my decision by early next week (and there is 50% chance that I may or may not get the funding). I understand that it is probably difficult for someone who is not in my position to comprehend how stressful this is. I am recieving pressure from so many people and I need to make a decision very soon. The only thing is, I am finding it rather difficult to decide on a university because I have never been to England and have little knowledge about which universities are the best. It would be extremely helpful if some of you could possibly give me your advice/opinions on the schools and their reputations. Some of you are probably wondering why I don't just stay and study in Canada. Well...it's only natural that I would want to stay near my family. I can't even imagine being so far away from them, especially not from my mother(with whom I am very close). Therefore, any advice that you can offer me would be welcome!
Thank you
-Paperheart

I think it depends on what you're studying.
It might be worth having a look here http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/lif...icle526747.ece at the subject you're planning on studying and seeing which university ranks highest for your chosen subject. It might also be worth checking out the education section of The Guardian website, too.

I visited Kent when I was choosing mine, and it seemed very nice. Not sure about the teaching quality for Eng Lit, but the people were really friendly and helpful, so they'd make you feel really welcome. Although I wouldn't expect any of the others to be any different.

Yeh like Kirstie said check out the league tables, but don't go to Nottingham Trent (pssst, I'm only saying that because I go to the other (and better) university in Nottingham)
