Give me some good interesting words. And phrases.

My favourite phrase is "hit the ground running". I'm doing a piece of writing that I want to be full of phrases so it's quite confusing the first time you read it and makes more sense the second time.

What's the second one mean? This is what I have written:

My angel fell from cloud nine and hit the ground running, with the limelight pouring from the skies upon her, on the day I saw her blue eyes gain a trace of danger. For me, it was simply out of the frying pain and into the fire. Heaven and hell embrace on neautral grounds, with no room to swing a cat at in the box where we layed on opposite sides.

The bold bits are the expressions. And I have no good words in there yet lol

lie like a rug, as in - you tell lies as well as a rug lies on the floor.. and not even a persian rug

I dunno about favourite phrases but the phrase "same difference" really bugs me. WHAT DOES IT MEAN!? The difference between two things is the same? ..But.. that's obvious isn't it? Why do you need a phrase for that?
