GCSE in comparison to AS/A Level..
I'm wondering whether I'd actually be able to cope with 5 AS Levels and thought your opinions may be able to help develop my decision on whether to take 5 subjects or just the 4, so yeah, your views would be appreciated.

not being helpfull, but im just curious as to what grades your gettin for your GCSE's cause omg you need like 8 A*'s to study 5, if i was you though and could get them grades then i would definitly go for 5 because you can always drop out if you arent happy with it, or you could take 5 for a year then for A2 drop down to 4, cause afterall universitys only look at your top 3 results, hmm maybe focusing on less would be a better solution?

You're probably the most intelligent person here, I think you'll manage just fine with five.

I was doing Three and a Mathematics Resit, and I handled it just fine.. And one was Psychology! That involved ALOT of written work..
So if I can do Three....
I am pretty sure you could do Five.. your one of the most intelligent users here!..

You only need 3 for uni, but if you want to be a vet it's difficult to get onto the courses so I guess the more A levels you have, the better.
Even 3 is hard work, my college wouldn't let us take more than 4. Maybe start with 5, and then drop out if you are struggling? dropping extra ones is easy and fuss-free, and if you have loads of other work then the teachers are always understanding.
Try to get as much experience as you can too, my friend got AAB, and has 3 years experience in a veterinary clinic and she still didn't get in this time round (her second try), and has to wait another whole year to see if they accept her next time with a little more experience. I don't want to scare you!!! still doo it!! nothing worth having is easy to get.

I'm finding 4 to be quite a lot of work. If I took a 5th I don't think I would have got an A in each of my modules like I did.
If you're really focused then you can do it because I know a few who are, but yeah. I say try 5 and see how it goes for a bit.

Only you can tell if you'd be able to cope, not a few people on the internet who've never met you!

I think you should go for it - you're on target for amazing GCSEs and I get the impression that you put quite a bit of work in without having to do so much that you're really stressed.
I did the same five that you're looking at at AS level and came out with As in all of them. It was hard work, but if they're subjects that you enjoy and you don't mind the effort then it's definately worth it. One of the downsides is that you don't get much free time to work in college and you have to be prepared to do more or less everything at home, but I'm crap at working in my frees at school so it stopped me from sitting around doing bugger all.
Definately give it a try, anyway. When I did it a few of my teachers and friends were a bit sceptical and tried to disuade me, but if you think it's what you really want to do then don't listen to them and do what you think is best for you. And just remember if you do feel like it's too much, you can always drop down to four.

Most of it depends on which subjects you'd be taking, as some can be quite similar at certain stages therefore giving you a bit of an advantage. eg. Physics & Maths.
I wouldn't have said the workload was too intense for me doing 4 subjects, so I think you would be able to cope with doing 5, but then again I always did the barest minimum to scrape through. I would suggest you try 5 subjects until christmas, then you'll have some exams and see how you cope with them, as that is when you'll know whether it is too much for you or not.

Your a smart girl, so I reckon you'd be able to cope with the workload.
You can always drop one if you find it too hard, and just concentrate on your origional 4.

Thanks a lot people!
I'd like to think, at the moment, that I will be able to take the five (and cope with them) but I'll have to make the final decision once I get my results back and go discuss everything with somebody at the college I'm going to be attending, I just wanted some of the opinions of people who've obviously experienced the change from GCSE to AS for themselves.

Did you even read what I said? I asked for peoples opinions on how AS/A Levels are in comparison to GCSEs to get an idea of how much more difficult they may be, as I thought "your opinions may be able to help develop my decision on whether to take 5 subjects or just the 4".

I'm going to try out doing 5 as well, just to see how it goes.
Like pretty much everyone has said, you seem more than intelligent enough to do it, although I've no idea exactly how much work A levels are yet.

I think you were talking to me there, so:
Photography, English lit, psychology, drama and either art or textiles but I'm finding it impossible to choose.

Yes, that's one part of her post. She then went on to say she wants to get some opinions from other people so SHE can decide when she could cope.

And she selected one part of her post to make it look like she wasn't trying to assess if she'd cope or not.

I don't think she was implicitly referring to her abilities (i.e intelligence) in accordance with how she'll cope, instead she was asking for opinions on the difficulty of doing 5 a levels.
