Sup. Kkkk, gonna be starting A-levels in September and I'm stuck on choosing a 5th. I'm going to do Maths, History, Music and French, and I was gonna do Psychology or Politics but my mum doesn't think they're a good idea for me.
I want to go to a music conservatoire and for GCSEs I'm doing English, English lit., Geography, Maths, French, Economics, R.S., Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I don't particularly want to do any of these apart from the ones I'm doing, but I dunno, I guess I'll have to
Anyone know a fairly respected and preferably easyish one?

I'd say physics is a very useful subject to take. It's basically an extension of the physics you're doing now, and crosses over slightly with maths. But I found it bloody interesting.

Why doesn't your mum think Psychology or Politics are a good idea for you?

Biology's a pretty good one if you want something respectable but easy. If you're into reading and prefer subjects that are essay based, then you'd probably enjoy English Literature quite a bit - it's a lot more interesting than it is at GCSE, too. If you're into Maths you could possibly do Further Maths if the college you're going to offers that.

Having said that, if you aren't really that interesting in studying any other subjects apart from the one you've chosen, I don't think it's really worth it. It'd probably be far more beneficial using your time to gain musical experience with orchestras or ensembles and the like.

I think I may be thinking about doing English lit. Physics I'm not that keen on, but I quite like literature and that so yeah.
I wanted to do Psychology but my mum reckons I'm a psycho so it's not appropriate or something :D and politics she reckons I'm not mature enough to do
I don't particularly want to be doing another one other than either of those, cos yeah, I'd rather be getting more music stuff done, but apparently I've got to do 3 A2s at the same time, so I've got to, cos I finish Maths A2 this year and History A2 next year, cos I've done my qualifications mentally, which means I'd only be doing two together. So I guess it'll probably have to be English lit.

At the end of the day they're your A-level choices, so you should decide which ones you're doing. Maybe you could look up the specifications for Psychology and Politics and show your mum how you're really interested in certain aspects of them, then point out that you're going to have more motivation to study towards a subject that you care about as opposed to something you're just taking as a fifth one.

I think I might try and get my mum to let me do psychology once more cos it does really appeal, but I expect it'll probably be english lit.
I did think about biology, but my mum is really into sciences, and that kinda put me off
I really like maths, but I only like pure maths really, the applied stuff isn't really my thing, so I don't think there's any point me doing further maths, especially as if I did that it would be that and another one for some reason.

What are you lot doing?

I guess your mum is trying to look out for you, but you really must make sure that what you pick is your own choice, and that it's correct, because you don't want to be wasting any time having to change about, and possibly doing another year etc.
