Ok. I want to do A-level music, right, but because they've fucked up the syllabus, it's gonna be pretty much impossible for me to take it as an external candidate. Sooooooooooo...would you forget it all together and choose a different subject (I don't technically need it) or do an OU diploma thingy in music which (I think) will take the same amount of time? Or ring up all the schools in the area and whinge at them until one of them lets me do it?

I'd whinge at the schools until one of them lets you do it. Have a look at the OU diploma though and see what the course entails - you might find it sounds a bit more interesting than the A level, or vice versa. Then just go with the one you like the sound of most.
