Did anyone see the bit about stag beetles on Springwatch the other night?
I don't usually watch it but I saw that bit on iPlayer cos a friend said about it and I was just like wtf, this is crap. They didn't even mention that they're endangered or anything about them really it was just like 'hey look, we can make a shittily put together piece of film and get Bill Oddie to do a rather crude and unfunny voiceover for it. Whoopee.'

Stag Beetles are endangered? That's news to my ears. I've only seen Springwatch a few times, but I enjoyed it. Bill Oddie is also very knowledgeable on both Zoology and Entomology. I just don't think you appreciate nature programs to be honest.

Stag beetles are definitely endangered.
I do appreciate nature programs, I don't usually watch Springwatch but I watch others sometimes which can be good. I'm not saying that Springwatch is generally shit cos I don't know what it's like generally, I'm just saying that the feature they did on stag beetles was fairly crude and not really informative, especially not over the surely most important point that they are endangered. I wasn't questioning Bill Oddie's expertise.

Yes, but they are only endangered in specific areas, notably London. Their habitats are declining to some extent, but for the majority of areas they aren't endangered, and if the threat was that bad, Springwatch will have surely informed us.

That's incorrect, and Springwatch should have informed viewers that they are endangered, that was my whole point. They are a protected species, so obviously the PTES don't agree with you.
