I didn't feel anything.
There's been an awful lot of hyperbole about the said topic though, it was only a 5.2 on the Richter scale for fuck sake.

Yes, but I think everyone is making big deal out of it. It is NOTHING compared to the earthquakes that regularly ravage countries surrounding the pacific ocean and so I don't appreciate everyone saying they were fucking terrified and frightened.

That's idiotic! You can't say it's stupid to be frightened of something just because other people experience worse! There is not, and never can be, a limit to what is acceptable as "scary", it's impossible.

I did not say it was stupid to be frightened of something just because other people experience worse, I just said I don't appreciate it. Earthquakes occur hundreds of times in the UK a year, so you should really have known what you were expecting, just on a slightly larger scale. From the off, you should have known that there was no threat, so no one should have been scared.

I have never felt an eathquake.
But I can say that you have no right to say that people should always expect the unexpected. Regardless of how many quakes happen a year in the UK, if someone hasn't actually felt a significant tremor, how do you suppose they react? And how can you expect EVERYONE to know every single time an earthquake happens?

I have never experienced an earthquake before.
I did not know what it was.
Is that hard to understand?

I would suppose they react with a little uncertainty, as opposed to the rather drastic reactions I've seen on here. It's the UK for crying out loud, violent earthquakes do not happen here, it's a known fact. What everyone has to remember is that it was only 5.2 on the Richter scale, while that may cause a noticeable tremor, not significant, it is still very small and it is not dangerous. People should marvel at it, not be frightened.

Small yes. Agreed.
However, if someone has never ever felt a tremor before, regardless of how the richter scale decides its weight.. can you at least acknowledge that people can be easily frightened as a result? Having never felt the earth move to suddenly feeling a tremor, a moderate one at that.
