I'm type O, 39% of canadians have my bloodtype. Its the most common. I donate on a regular basis.

well if I am a man....I wouldn't be giving out my sperms but for blood why not? with this I will be helping out needy people and at the same time I can also save their lives if they are lets say very critical in the hospital etc.

i gave blood last tuesday for the first time. i still have a bruise, looks like i've been shooting up lol.
it wasn't bad except the donor nurse kept knocking the needle. ouchie. and she said she'd never seen blood come out as slowly as mine did haha.

Seeing as this topic is back, this plus the fact that I've recently starting fearing everything to do with blood and having blood taken from me makes me pass out within like...a minute. Even thinking about it makes me a bit edgy. Which is a shame because I think it's a fantastic thing to do.

I'm pretty sure I will when I'm 17, needles don't bug me too much. I'm not likely to get any piercings, and no tats till 18+. So I should be good to give xP

It was during surgery for my spinal curvature so I didn't know much about it.
It's something to do with the risk of CJD being transmitted to other people as to why I can't.

They are really strict as to what your condition must be like before giving blood, like you can't do this or you can't do that etc etc.
I suppose it makes sense though. I don't think i'd want dodgy blood.
I still haven't given any though.

Haha, no. I think somebody did get CJD from a transfusion so they added that rule.
2001. Anyone who has recieved blood since 1980 can't donate.
