Tell you what, when you pay for my car and my running costs I will CONSIDER stopping smoking in my own damn vehicle.
PS. I also forgot that smoke knows to stay in the room of the house where you're smoking. Idiot.

Nah, even when people have had their windows open to smoke, you can still smell it in their cars. Again though, with the law Brit's talking about, I'm indifferent towards it (wow - bad syntax or what there?). I can see both sides of the argument, but I think there's much better things to get passionately worked up about.

None of my friends or family would be as selfish to infringe on my rights in such a disgusting manner, they don't like it, they can walk right.
Also, yes people can leave the room, but you're telling me the smoke will stay there in that one room? Bullshit, pure bullshit.
You can call me a murderer all you want, cos that's bullshit too.
I repeat, get ones head out of ones arse.
Kirstie, at the moment I have little else to get passionate about, I'm stuck in my flat, worrying myself sick over whether I may or may not have a serious pregnancy complication (which isn't related to smoking so shut your fucking face kier) which could kill both myself and my unborn child (and if smoking harms unborn children, explain my perfectly healthy 9 month old kier) So this little bitchfight is a very very welcome distraction.
Also, when people only smoke in one room of a house, you can smell it in other rooms. Smoking smells and like any other smell, it spreads.

I wasn't going to say it was related to smoking...
And just because one child isn't (this is an example, I know there are loads of babies born when parents smoke thoughout and there are no problems) doesn't mean its safe, why else would they have warnings on the packets?
If you jumped off a 100ft building and lived, if you did it again would you live again?

So it became unsafe a year or two ago because they put signs on the packets that few pay attention to?
And I don't know about the building, when I get a chance to try i'll let you know, or in the worst case scenario, get a relative to let you know.

You know that its been unsafe since it was invented, but people didn't know then.
And I was trying to say, if it is safe to smoke etc, why does it have warnings on the packets, why are there TV ads (I dont know where you are from, so they might not have them there). Doesn't make any sence.

Ok, let me try putting this another way. The TV ad's and pathetic little warnings are part of britains pathetic nanny culture. Smoking and drinking and drug use (all in moderation of course) was all fine back when my mother was carrying me, so were nearly all babies born to mothers who smoked, drank and used mild recreational and prescription drugs.
I have researched this crap thouroughly (quite a while ago now) cos I wouldn't do something that is SOLIDLY PROVEN dangerous. All of these warnings and tv ads n crap like that is about risk factor. If you smoke there is a percentage of risk of the cancer cells already in your body becoming active. If you drink there is a percentage of risk that your liver will fuck up. If you smoke recreational drugs there is a percentage of risk that you will turn into some psychotic man-raping beast. It's all PERCENTAGE OF RISK. I've noticed that britain recently enjoys controlling people through fear, without giving any real, solid, indisputable evidence.
Hope that made sense, if not tough i'll have to re-write it when I'm not half dead.
Kirstie, I know you're not having a go at me. I'm just saying there's little else to get passionate about at the moment, and this is a welcome distraction.

I don't think people should be able to smoke in cars, because.. one, when they sell the car, I don't want to buy it because you can't get that rank smell out, and I have to search harder to find a clean car.
Smoke is just nasty, but I agree that people should have the right to smoke in their homes if they want to kill themselves more quickly. I haven't heard about the "no smoking if there is a 16 year old in your car" thing. I kind of like that. Its not fair to the youngings.

I find it strange. Alcohol is still one of the biggest killers in the world. We are allowed to drink alcohol, killing ourselves, but not smoke, which does the same thing, essentially.
And before someone steps in and says something incredibly stupid like "well alcohol doesn't produce 2nd hand smoke or kill other people" Tell that to the many familys of people who have died at the hands of drunk drivers, drunk abuse attacks, Drunk rape, Ect.
Alcohol kills more young people than smoking, in some parts of Europe one in four European kids die related to Alcohol.
I think this was a result of middle classed snobs moaning hard because every time they went into a pub it smelled of smoke, so they petitioned to get rid of it, which is infact now helping towards ruining the pub industry.
Which, is in turn taking a little bit more of what it means to be British away from us.

Its a Canadian Anti Smoking Policy Mandy, thats why you haven't heard of it. The Canadian Government is so ridiculous right now, they've CALLED AN ELECTION after only having one two years ago, and it was called by the party that WON the election. Get that?

yeah, i could imagine that that law doesn't go over well.
Even though i think smoking should be banned in ALLL bars everywhere, i can understand why people hate it, and why bar owners are dreading it.
However, in a city where I live, where smoking IS banned in bars, the business is still going strong, and actually... I know a lot of people who go to these bars over a nearby bar that has smoking. Its an attraction to a lot of people. The people who do smoke, just smoke outside in the more breezy streets. Its suprising how much less hungover you can feel if you've spent your night in a smoke free bar. I had NO idea.

We have that here, and it does, to the eye look like everything is as normal, But, like i've said, 5 pubs a day are closing in England. 7% or Irelands bars went out of business in the first year of the ban.
The idea of the ban was, that the non smokers would flood the pubs and everything would be normal, but as the chairman of the project said "The much-promoted view that non-smokers would be rushing to premises has not materialised".
The fact is, in England, and Ireland, the majority of pub drinkers, are old to middle aged people who smoke. The new and trendy bars where younger people go i don't see too much smoking.

It's a real shame that so many pubs are closing down / going out of business. I love going down the pub, it's normally the only place I can have a half decent conversation with my Dad, and I enjoy being part of that atmosphere.
I'm still undecided about the smoking ban. Although I like that the pub is a lot less foggy, instead of going home smelling of fags, you go home smelling of stale beer and alcohol. Plus I'm normally the minority of one of the group that DOESN'T smoke.. so either sit indoors on my own, or stand outside with the rest of the smokers, breathing in the so-called fresh air anyways.
Pubs closing down has a lot more than the smoking ban to blame. It's a whole range of things. The cost of renting and running a pub is incredible, and there's not a lot of money in it anymore these days. You could also include increasing beer prices and the downfall of community as part of the problem. Areas that are increasing with the number of Muslim's could even be put forward as part of the blame! If you really wanted..
Supermarkets may charge less than pubs, but I'll never be one of those people that will sit in on a weekend with a few mates over going to the pub. It'll never be the same.
