Colour Blindness
Is anyone else on here colour blind? I was diagnosed when I was quite young and I'm just curious to see if anyone else is.
If you're not sure:
Ishihara Test for Color Blindness
Of course the website won't be able to give you a complete diagnosis, but it's fun and you can always look for more.

I am not, though everytime I go to the eye doctor they make me do it again. Does it come with age? or can you get it later in life?

I'm not sure. Usually it is fixed from birth, but I'm guessing since the eye doctor checks for colour blindness every time you go it may, in some instances, develop with age.

My friend is he said they found out when he was like 5 and was colouring trees completely brown 'cause the brown and green crayons looked the same to him. aw.
i don't fully understand colour blindness though and it weirds me out if i think about it too much. like...when he looks at a tree in real life is it like all one colour? and how dull is the world to him then? if green looks brown. proper confuses me!

Depends what you mean by ugly. I think red and brown is a nice colour for a dress.

Asda, which one are you? What colours can and can't you see?
At work tonight, our TV has broke and they have given us a really really old small microwave looking TV that is black and white, I was watching a cooking program and it upset me 'cus I couldn't see the colours of the food!

Hmm I don't seem to be colour blind, although I often wonder why my body is blue.

I have Anomalous Trichromacy. This means I have protanomaly, deuteranomaly and tritanomaly which means I'm deficient in all three primary colours. I can still distinguish them, but I will probably see them quite different from how you see them.

Well I've been colour blind since birth, so the colours I see I just take them as normal, I've never known anything else. However, I hate it when people come up to me and point at a postbox and ask me what colour it is and so on. I can still see colour, I only have trouble distinguishing dark colours, oranges, yellows and reds, greys and greens etc.

I've thought about this lots. Like you probably think "red" is a nice color for a dress, even though it is different than what we see, but think it is nice because that is how your tastes developed. Like, pukey green (or whatever that nasty color dress was), looks good to you, because we all see it as red.
I know what I think, but this is all kinda hard for me to explain, because it brings up too many open ended questions in my mind.
Like for the rest of us.. do i really see skin as peach (or whatever color skin is), when someone sees the skin as what I would call blue? How do we really know? hmm...

Yeah ^ that's exactly what I mean by it freaks me out if I think about it too much lol
Asda, is there any link between colour blindness and intelligence? My friend is really clever, as are you, and I read somewhere about someone's kid being colour blind but really clever...?

I don't think it is, no. Sure, if his colour blindness was severe, as in having Monochromacy (total colour blindness) or Dichromacy (where one of the primary colour mechanisms is absent or not functioning) he might have to use more logic and common sense than we normally would so he could basically survive and cope and be able distinguish certain objects and overall this may give him a heightened sense of intelligence.
