Yeah, as a buyer you can still leave negative feedback - which is basically what negative feedback is for. As long as your buyer pays on time then there's no other thing that could go wrong - whereas the seller could deliver late, the item could be wrong, damaged, etc etc.

It's to stop sellers giving buyers negative feedback just because they're unhappy with the sale. I think it's a good idea

I think it's aload of bollocks. For people who only use ebay for buying then it doesn't effect them really.

Someone buys something from you and refuses to pay and you can't leave bad feedback so they keep doing the same on other auctions and no-one knows because they haven't got any bad feedback.

They get an unpaid item strike - after a few I think they get banned.

It does affect buyers because at the moment the buyers don't want to leave honest feedback in fear or receiving negative feedback from the seller - which many sellers do, for spite. So by removing this feature, it doesn't affect the seller (as they can report non-payers) but it benefits the buyers as they can get a true idea of the sellers past sales.

Do people get to see the unpaid item strike? Haven't really looked before.

No, I don't think so but the buyer might get restricted.

About Unpaid Item strikes and suspensions
  • Unpaid Item strikes are issued and tracked by eBay.
  • Unpaid Item strikes are separate from feedback, and do not affect a member's feedback score or member profile.
  • If a buyer is issued an Unpaid Item strike it will automatically be assigned to their account when the seller receives their Final Value Fee credit.
  • Buyers have the option of appealing an Unpaid Item strike if they believe it was undeserved.
If a buyer gets too many strikes within a short period, their account will be suspended indefinitely. In some cases, limits may be placed on the buyer’s account in advance of suspension.
