school
soo some background information before i begin my rant...
i go to a pretty small school, only about 40 students in each grade and the only courses we have are university level or academic courses as opposed to college or applied courses, and we don't have semesters which is where you take 4 courses four half the year and then switch to a different 4 the next half, we just take 8 all year round. (or 7 or 6 depending on how many spares you have) anyways there's only about 25 different courses offered in grade 12 so theres not much selection, especially for someone like me who is more artsy and englishy than science and math. so anyways i was really excited for my next year cause i was taking ap english, drama, writers craft, data management, law, world issues and family studies, which is pretty much my perfect course list. only one math which is the 'easy' math, and all english, art and social sceinces courses, and i was planning on dropping world issues. anyways before school ended i was talking to some of my friends and one girl said that when they're making the schedules they will give someone who is taking all science and math courses the perfect scheduele with no conflicts because they actually need those courses to get into university, but people like me with most social sciences will get fucked over because we technically don't 'need' our courses for university. anyways i've been really worried because i love all of my courses and didnt want to give them up. so today my vice principal called saying that i had some conflicts and i was like well fuck and i got my mom to call him back and basically i have conflicts between all of my courses except writers craft and world issues, and i wasnt even going to take world issues! so what he says is i can take only two courses out of law, data and drama, and i can either take families or ap english. now family studies was a course i really really really wanted to take and i absoloutely adore ap english, it's my second highest mark and i love taking it. so i was soo upset because if i didnt take families and took ap english id have to take history, chemistry, bioliogy, functions, or calculus etc. which i CANNOT do because seriously, i suck at those courses. so basically what i ended up doing was dropping ap english for regulary english and dropping drama for world issues. now i'm really pissed off because drama and ap english were my best subjects last year! my courses are still pretty good because all i had to do was take world issues and switch to regular english but like, fuck ahtouew. it's just making me so upset for some reason, like a conflict in every fucking course?! AHR*@(NreU@(#)(U@#OGREOE okay long rant over.

urgh.. I can totally understand where you are coming from! Being a music major.. i always feel like my classes are "second class". Like the classes you don't "need". Will they not let you take them because they are all offered the same hours..? or why is there even an issue? If you have all the required classes, you should be able to take what you want in 12th grade. Keep fighting... having parents on your side that won't give up shows that you are really serious about persuing this type of degree in the future.
In HS, a lot of the music classes, etc i wanted to take were offered the same hour. So you HAD to choose. There was an abundance of science, social studies classes so you were kinda "forced" to take those. boooo! I can totally understand! that sucks.

I was just kidding yo.
My friend had this in college though, so I know what ya mean. Ya should just campaign for better opportunities for non-academic students xD
