my ex is being a total dick. we only ever 'went out' because we were really good friends and almost attached at the hip and it was just easier to tell people we were an item than to explain why we were always in eachother's pockets and, so he said, it would take the pressure off finding a girl so he could concentrate on his studies etc whatever.

he broke up with me after idk three months or something because i wouldn't marry him (!) dont get me wrong i love him to bits, but not like that. the thought of him fathering my children disturbs me greatly and although he was very attentive and fucking obsessed with me, he's never been particularly nice to me, he's always doing this 'i'm better than you' shit and trying to make me feel thick and as if i can't look after myself. grr.

so we went out last night, just a small group of us and he was doing his normal self-pitying thing that i couldnt be bothered with. ended up in yates' (only busy place in the whole town last night) i asked if he wanted a dance, 'i don't dance' was his response so i hit the dance floor with samantha and william instead, sat down after about 4 and he looked really pissed off so i asked again if he wanted a boogie to cheer himself up but no, determined not to enjoy himself.

so then this bloke came over and asked me to dance and i was like k, went to sit back down and no one was at the table, called over to william to ask where sam and dave (my ex) were and he pointed at the exit. went out there and they're both sitting on a wall, sam having a go at him. i joined them and they started talking in fucking code which was so annoying, then she said to him 'you're a fucking muppet, let it go' and went back in. so i was like 'what was that about?' and he told me that when i went to dance with that bloke he'd got up to hit him and sam had to take him outside to calm him down. so i was like 'dude, we were just dancing' and he goes 'you're so naive, he obviously wants to fuck you.' xO he's such a knob, so what if he did? that's exactly what dave wanted to do the first night we met and it took a lot to get him to accept that it wasn't going to happen. so i asked him why he was so jealous and stupid and what he normally does when he breaks up with girls and how long it takes to get over them and says 'i've never broken up with anyone like you', looked really really sad and walked home.

so he's still infatuated and doesn't want me even dancing with another man, how can i make him get over me? this happens a lot to me but i can normally pretend it's not happening and just ignore it and i never used to live in the same place for more than a year anyway, but i'm gonna be around him for at least the next couple of years.

Geez, that's pretty awkward.

I guess the only thing that can really do it is time, even then he still might not get over you properly.

Someone else might help, but they'd be a rebound, and I doubt he'd want anyone if he was still that infactuated with you.
