Yeahh. I ride most days on my cob and sometimes on my mothers dutch warmblood/TB. Pretty much my main interest in life at the minute lol.

I used to ride competitively, almost made Trillium Circuit (provinial here) in Equestrian (the ground work) and Jumping and Showmanship

Horses will only stand their ground if they're young is threatened, or if they can't run away. So chances are your dad's friend probably threatened it in some way.

By feeding it an apple?! Wow, how threatening. As with all animals how they are treated does have an effect on how they turn out to an extent. I'll go off track a little here, but one of our pets dogs is a nightmare, I love him to death but he really is. He stayed with him mum and siblings for 10 or 11 weeks, so over the recommended minimum time, we socialised him and got him used to situations he would be exposed to every day of his future life, loved him but showed him discipline. He's still very violent towards other dogs and sometimes us, steals food, is very terrotorial etc etc. Like I said I love him beyond words but, we gave him everything he needed and that's just how his personality is. I've gone way off track there but the point I'm making is some animals are just like that, no-one is to blame.

I've worked with horses for most of my teenage life. A horse will not attack you unless you've provoked it. What may have happened is the horse was overexcited to have an apple and got a little mouthy. I highly doubt the horse intended to bite your dads friend.

They used to have police horses in town when they switched the xmas lights on here and when I was in year 3 or 4? Soo like 9? one of the boys in my class got kicked in the mouth from behind the horse. Knocked both his front teeth out :/ adult teeth as well.

Its true, a horse will not attack you unless provoked, but i've come across some horses that are just not trust-worthy at all because the way people have treated them. They were just complete fruitcakes - it also had something to do with breeding of course.

Breeding RARELY is a factor. Unless the horse is bred for a specific job, ie: sulky racing or track, then breeding doesn't factor into personalities.

Horses are result of their owners and riders. Period, end of story.

Thats what i mean, its because of people that they are fruitcakes. But one breed would act different/maybe more spooky than another breed. Im just saying this from my own experience and working with them.

Race horses of any kind: Track, Sulky (trotters) etc are more "nervous" specifically because of the job they do. They are naturally high strung yes. But thats the ONLY breed I've ever encountered a "naturally" highstrung horse.

Ive been horse Riding since I was little. I used to be mad into it but I don't really have the time to do it as much these days

I prefer people being scared of horses, at least they know what they can do to you. Compared to the little kids who run in my horses field with apples and polo's. These kids are making my foaly a greedy bitch. And she will kick them. I know it. >=(
