Halo Movie comes to a halt

Just days after I reported that Universal and Fox have decided not to finance the Halo movie comes the news that the film has actually been put on hiatus.
That’s right the Halo movie is now no longer filming.
After Universal and Fox’s decision not to help co-finance the film Microsoft, Peter Jackson, and Fran Walsh all agreed that the film should be postponed until someone actually helps finance the film. The reason for the postponement is because Microsoft promised fans that the Halo movie will be a first class film. Well what I think they mean is that they want to make a video game movie that doesn’t suck because every video game movie to date has been god-awful.
Microsoft, Peter Jackson, and Fran Walsh all agree that the director Neill Blomkamp is a great candidate for the film and will make the film well worth the wait. The script for the Halo movie was written by Alex Garland and then rewritten by D.B. Weiss and then edited again by Josh Olson. This of course means that the script is rather crappy if 3 people had to edit it.
So for the time being there is no word on what will happen regarding the Halo movie or when filming will resume. If they are hoping to make this a big budget flick I think they are going to have to wait for some time because I think Hollywood studios know that video game movies are not box office hits no matter how popular the game.
