Now while I was never really a big fan of the original film Ice Age film, the sequel was going to be made either way. With that being said, the sequel Ice Age 2: The Meltdown was just released into theaters this past Friday and in my opinion it’s about damn time. I became so tired of seeing that trailer every time I went to see a movie that was rated PG or G in the theater and hearing that stupid Vanilla Ice Song Ice, Ice Baby.
But the big news today is how much money Ice Age 2 made which has made more than anyone could possibly imagine. When I woke up this morning and checked to see the Box Office figures for the weekend, I almost feel out of my chair as I saw that Ice Age 2: The Meltdown made are you ready for this? 70.5 Million Dollars in 3 days!!!! That is the largest movie opener for April in the history of film. Now with that being said I want to be the first to say that yet another sequel will be made. There is no way that Fox will not take this as a sign and not try to make another sequel as quickly as possible. I fear we may have another Shrek situation on our hands. Ice Age seems to be so popular that Fox will probably keep milking out sequels until nothing is left. I guess it gives some nice competition for Dreamworks and Pixar but does the world really need an Ice Age 3 and 4. This news hasn’t been released yet but mark my words that there will be another sequel and the news will break in just a few days to come.
