Best known for his hilarious ITV Digital adverts with his flatmate ‘Monkey’ and his misbehaviour on Shooting Stars, Johnny Vegas is also well loved for his roles in Happiness and Black Books and for selling his wedding photos to Viz magazine for £1.

What many of his fans don’t know is that Johnny is also a hugely talented performer and comedy award winner who has been appearing in front of live audiences for years. Now with his first ever video and DVD, Johnny has produced a memorable stand-up show and much more besides. A comedy title like no other, Who’s Ready For Ice Cream? will be available from Universal Pictures UK Ltd from 17th November 2003.

Synopsis
Now the UK’s favourite comedian, Johnny Vegas has arrived. He is a recognised face on television and features regularly in Heat Magazine. But there’s a problem …Johnny Vegas has lost his edge.

All the trappings of fame have distanced Johnny from his roots and the old comic magic that audiences came to know and love have abandoned him. His common touch has been replaced with an overwhelming desire to dine on swan.

His manager has one week to get Vegas back in shape. Johnny must be dragged out of his ‘happy place’ and back into the depths of emotional anguish and self loathing (for his own good of course). Johnny must give the fans and the sponsors, what they want …a loser!

And what better place to orchestrate the fall of Vegas than The Edinburgh Fringe Festival where comedy egos go to die. The plan is simple …book Johnny into some of the worst venues in town and give him a taste of real stand up again with real audiences who take no prisoners. Put into in a filthy flat share with a veteran comic with a lunatic reputation, things are made worse by an ice cream sponsor with a determination to get his money’s worth.

The comic fraternity think he’s a sell out, promoters won’t touch him, the public no longer find him funny but can Johnny climb back to the top of the bottom of the pinnacle of stand up?

Featuring the best of three live stand-up shows filmed in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Johnny’s show is full of his trademark pathos and hilarious soul bearing. The shows also involve his unsuspecting fans in some outrageous audience participation (including nipple kissing, arm wrestling, a Wham sing-along and trying to support Johnny’s weight as he body surfs!)

With a host of funny extras, the DVD includes ‘Outtakes’, ‘Behind The Pain’, a show about the anguish and pain of being Johnny Vegas and ‘Tough Crowd’, a hilarious stand-up show with the audience from hell.
