M. Night Shyamalan's New Film

I was one of the few people who really enjoyed Shyamalan’s last film Lady in the Water which was bashed by the critics. In fact, I thought Lady in the Water was his best film to date but hey what do I know since I only watch about 150+ movies a year. Well after Lady in the Water flopped last summer, many studios were worried about whether or not the director would make another film. In fact he was turned down at various studios for a script he wrote called The Green Effect.
Well needless to say, Shyamalan didn’t take no for an answer and went home to Philadelphia and edited the screenplay and gave the film a new title The Happening. Now after he did that he went back to Hollywood and as now gotten Fox to take on the project. The film is rumored to be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2008.
So what is the Happening all about you may ask, well the film tells an apocalyptic story that follows the events that take place when nature revolts and starts killing off human beings. Sounds interesting! Shyamlan said that he going to be casting a big male lead for the film which will begin filming in late August of this year. Fox has already allowed Shyamalan a budget of $57 million for the film. The movie is also rumored to be getting an R rating since the film seems very violence and the new script is geared more towards a more adult oriented audience.
Personally I look forward to the new film and think it sounds like an interesting idea, lets just hope the critics are a little friendlier to the Happening then they were with Lady in the Water.
