Movie Theaters Refuse to Show New President Bush Movie

Well Freedom of Speech and Expression is again being attacked in the United States as theater chains refuse to show the new award winning drama entitled Death of a President. The movie is scheduled to be released on October 27th in the United States which is exactly two weeks before elections start. This movie which has already sparked controversy all over the world shows President George W. Bush being assassinated in Chicago in the year 2007. Of course the president isn’t really shown being shot, his face just digitally replaces the face of an actor in the scene where he is gunned down. Now the idea of this film does seem rather tasteless but I am sure in America and in the rest of the world we have seen worse.
In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the CEO of Regal Cinemas Mark Campbell explained "We feel it is inappropriate to portray the future assassination of a sitting president, regardless of political affiliation." But Regal Cinemas is not the only company that has said they would not play this film, Cinemark Theaters who now owns Century Theaters has also stated that this movie will not play in their theaters. Cinemark’s spokesperson stated "It's a subject matter we don't wish to play." This is when I say thank you for allowing theaters to be independently owned and operated because at least this movie will play at those little hole in the world theaters because it sure won’t be seen at many of the larger chains.
