Prince of Persia Movie Still Alive... Apparently

Remember that announced Prince of Persia movie that was supposed to be coming out? Me either. The movie was announced over 3 years ago, but there hasn’t been much of anything said about it since. But apparently the movie is still alive and well inside Disney Studios, and might be seeing the light of day before the decade is over.
Disney blogger Jim Hill wrote recently that Disney “…is now gearing up to put a "Prince of Persia " movie into production. Because it's thought that a film based on this hugely popular series of Ubisoft Entertainment games (Which -- in theory -- will be Disney's big action-adventure release for the Summer of 2008) could then lead to a new hit series of movies for the studio."
So while it looks like the movie might be coming out next summer, there are still a lot of questions to be answered. Besides the obvious questions about the casting, there is also a question of whether the movie will stay close to the game, or stray from the story, as it was said it would be back in 2004. Then, an executive producer of the film stated that "Rather than do a straight beat-for-beat adaptation of the new video game," he said, "we're taking some cool elements from the game and using them to craft a new story, much as [Pirates of the Caribbean] did with the theme park ride." Since Disney is apparently still very much into the idea of making the movie, it will be interesting to see if fans of the games will be happy if they decide to make up their own story instead of following the games’ plot.
