Why do we need a sequel to a film that seemed to end perfectly? Because Hollywood always feels the need to milk anything that is a success. Well Mark Wahlberg has already signed on to be in the sequel and his character Dignam will be returning for the sequel as well. The rumors also have it that Robert De Niro will play either a senator or congressman. The release date for the sequel at this point is still unknown but it is rumored that William Monahan will be the writing the screenplay and the film will begin shooting near the end of the year or early next year. Be sure to check out the Departed when it arrives on DVD this upcoming Tuesday so you can see what all the hype is about.
