Flight of the Conchords
Grammy winning comedy sensations release self-titled debut album
Released May 12th on Warner Bros. Records / Sub Pop
Flight of the Conchords has become one of the biggest TV cult hits of recent years with fans captivated by its combination of sharp musical parodies and a wry comic take on the music industry. Now Flight of the Conchords - comedians/musicians Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement - will release their self-titled debut album on May 12th on Warner Bros. Records / Sub Pop.
The album will be made available digitally from April 21st and will feature an iTunes exclusive bonus track ‘Bret, You’ve Got It Going On’.
The album features fourteen fully realised versions of favourite songs from the TV show including ‘Business Time’, ‘Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros’, ‘Think About It’ and ‘The Most Beautiful Girl (In The Room)’. The set also delivers cleverly crafted pastiches of the Pet Shop Boys (‘Inner City Pressure’), Shabba Ranks (‘Boom’) and David Bowie (‘Bowie’). Essentially, this album is a must have for the legions of fans of the TV series.
‘Flight of the Conchords’ was recorded in Los Angeles, New York and Wellington with producer Mickey Petralia (Beck, Ladytron, Peaches).
Flight of the Conchords became a huge sensation on the live comedy circuit, soon earning the duo a radio series that featured guest appearances from Rob Brydon and Jimmy Carr. When the television series was first broadcast in June 2007 on HBO and BBC Four, Flight of the Conchords became one of year’s biggest word of mouth hits.
