Actor Paul Gleason died on Saturday in a Burbank, California Hospital due to lung cancer. The actor was 67 when he passed away and died from a rare form of lung cancer called mesothelioma which has been linked to asbestos. Paul Gleason is best known for playing Principle Richard Vernon in the John Hughes classic The Breakfast Club. However, Gleason has been big in Hollywood now for over five decades and has been in such movies as Die Hard, Trading Places and Van Wilder to name a few. He has also appeared in various television shows including Dawson’s Creek, Cold Case, Seinfeld, Friends and Lois and Clark.
Gleason was married to Susan Gleason and had two daughters and a granddaughter. His wife stated that whenever Paul was around there was never a dull moment, he was awesome. His daughter Shannon added he was an athlete, an actor and a poet. I personally only saw a hand full of the projects he worked on but he did seem like a great actor and was surely a great father and husband. It’s sad to see someone who has graced Hollywood with their presence for 50 years die because of cancer. But all you can say at this point is good bye and you will be missed. RIP Paul Gleason
