Dirty Pretty Things go to prison

We're all about the lock-ups today – and it seems former Libertine Carl Barat will be in jail before his former bandmate and justice-dodger Pete Doherty. But it's OK folks – Carl's band Dirty Pretty Things are just planning to play a gig at London's Pentonville Prison.
Justice Secretary Jack Straw has given the nod to the gig which will see the band perform along with The Enemy on bank holiday Monday. As well as the main gig in the prison chapel, Carl will be serenading felons with an acoustic guitar outside their cells.
It's all to help the Wasted Youth campaign helping to raise awareness about the rising suicide rate for young men. In fact, Pete Doherty was asked to come along, but organisers have rethought due to his er, rather delicate situation, and thinking that his presence might distract from the real message.
