To popstars their record label must be a kind of second home (or if they’re really successful, a fifth home). And while they might be cosy for many years there must come a time when a popstar will want to up sticks. It looks like that time has come for our favourite leotard-wearer Madonna.
Madge is on Warner Music at the moment, but is apparently planning to leave and go label-hunting once her contract’s up. There’s an eleventh solo album on the way and then there’ll be yet another greatest hits collection – that’ll be her third, and we might whinge but we’re bound to be first in the queue for it anyway. After that she’ll be off.
There’s a rumour she’ll be hooking up with LiveNation, the promotions and venue company, for a few pence - £50 million in fact. So we’ll have to keep an ear out for that, so we know when to write to her and ask her for some pocket money…
