Maureen Stapleton Dies

Well another famous actress has passed away today. Maureen Stapleton passed away in Lenox, Massachusetts today from chronic pulmonary disease. She was 80 years old when she died.
Maureen Stapleton did her share of both film work and theater work. Her first major film appearance was in the film Lonelyhearts co-starring Hollywood legend Montgomery Clift. Stapleton was also nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in this film.
She later went on to do several other movies including Airport and the Woody Allen film Interiors. She won an Academy Award when she stared as Emma Goldman in Warren Beatty’s film Reds.
She also won two Tony awards. One of them was for the Neil Simon play titled The Gingerbread Lady.
So as you see Maureen Stapleton was a pretty big name in Hollywood. She won her share of awards and she will be missed.
