Mel Gibson pleads guilty

So while the rest of world wonders how celebrities keep getting away with murder, drunk driving, and other things that are against the law, Mel Gibson plans to plead guilty to avoid jail time after he was caught driving drunk and making anti-Semitic remarks last month. On Thursday, in a Malibu Courthouse Mel’s lawyer confirmed that Mel has actually given into the deal made with prosecutors that will place him on probation for the next three years instead of going to jail. Under this deal that Gibson made, he will be in AA for a full year and will also be fined $1,200 which is peanuts to Gibson considering he is worth probably 50 million. Gibson has also volunteered to record a public service announcement that states the dangers of driving drunk because yes we are all going to listen to Mel Gibson now. After Gibson was originally arrested news reports have said that he was put into a rehab facility but according to other reports he actually just stood in his California house since the incident. Because of the plea he took, Gibson actually got both his charge for driving under the influence and driving with an open container of alcohol removed from his record. The plea deal Gibson got was made by Judge Laurence Mira who passed a sentence on various lawbreaking celebrities including Nick Nolte, Nicole Richie, and Robert Downey. I guess we can call Mr. Mira the Johnny Cochran for celebrities who like to drink and drive and get away with it.
