Mitchell brothers comeback in 2005?

This isn't your average, common-or-garden love triangle – rather, it’s one that involves Walford's most infamous siblings - the Mitchell brothers.
Steve McFadden, who plays Phil Mitchell, is due to return to the soap after a 12-month break – and producers are hoping to reunite Phil with his brother, Grant Mitchell, played by Ross Kemp, in a dramatic Mitchell brothers comeback. They’re also desperate for Letitia Dean, who plays Sharon Watts, to return to the soap following her scheduled six-month break next year, so that a sensational recreation of the love triangle between the Mitchell brothers and Sharon will form next year’s major storyline.
To tempt Letitia, soap bosses have offered to double her £150,000-a-year salary – making her the highest paid star on the show. Hope that the storyline will win back viewers for the ailing soap is well-founded – when Grant Mitchell discovered Phil had been having an affair with his wife Sharon, 25.3m viewers tuned in for the showdown. In comparison, the soap’s viewers plummeted this year to an all-time low of just 6.4m in May. "Bosses have told Sharon to take six months off and return next year," said an insider. "Love blossoms again between Phil and Sharon… and then Grant sensationally comes back and there are fireworks."
This would be surely a major impact for the failing soap. Coronation Street is running the soaps at the moment, with Eastenders no way near as good as they were.
