Eddie Murphy’s been denying he’s the father of Mel B’s daughter for months, but now DNA tests have proved him wrong – he is indeed the daddy.
The ex-Spice Girl and the American actor and one-time stand-up comedian had a mad fling which she always believed resulted in her pregnancy. Murphy – who chucked Mel when she was pregnant – insisted that the father could be anyone, saying that Mel had several other lovers at the time. She has always denied the accusation, saying “I was always faithful to Eddie. He is the father of my baby and he knows it."
Mel B is said to be relieved that the dispute over three-month-old Angel Iris’s paternity is finally over. A friend of the singer said: "The DNA is back and the baby is definitely Murphy's. She's now looking forward to moving on with her life with her new baby."
Murphy, who’s best known these days as the voice of Donkey in the Shrek films, has five other kids already, and is now looking at a bit of a payout for the sixth. However, he’s not complaining – he told the press he wants to “do the right thing”. He shares his birthday – April 3 – with his new daughter. He is now dating movie producer Tracey Edmonds, while Mel is concentrating on bringing up Angel Iris as well as her older daughter Phoenix Chi.
