Posh wins libel damages

You may think Victoria Beckham is “picky, demanding and rude”, but the High Court in London has decided that she isn’t. The Court awarded the Spice-Girl-turned-WAG libel damages – how much, no one is saying – after a magazine was found to have libelled her.
Star magazine, renowned for its bitchy gossip, got Beckham’s back up when it printed that Posh had been described by a US TV crew as “full of herself and not very nice”. These strong words, along with other allegations about Vic’s behaviour while making her reality TV show in Los Angeles, cost the magazine an undisclosed amount.
Lawyer Gerald Tyrrell pointed out that since filming on the show about the Beckhams’ relocation to the States hadn’t even started when Star made its claims, they couldn’t have been true. The magazine didn’t get in touch with Posh to ask her side of things before publishing, saying that "The crew get a big laugh out of how she seems to think she's 'all that' and then some doorman or waiter has no clue who she is." Star also told the world that Posh “waltzes round with her icy attitude”, leading Mr Tyrrell to tell the court, "The story was completely inaccurate and defamatory of Ms Beckham."
The story’s now been retracted and the publishers have apologised, and agreed to pay damages and legal costs. So unless you’re a mag with deep pockets, best be careful what you print about Posh.
