Tom Cruise’s Pay Cut
Well considering how poorly Tom Cruise’s latest film Mission: Impossible 3 did at the box office, I guess this new story shouldn’t come as that big of a surprise. It seems that Tom Cruise has now been given a pay cut at Paramount who produced several of his films including all three Mission: Impossible films and Vanilla Sky. A few years back Cruise as well has his business partner Paula Wagner made a deal with Paramount heads but now since Paramount has just gotten a new head honcho the studio is giving Cruise a pay cut. The new head of Paramount, Brad Grey, told Cruise’s company that the studio was no in any type of position to renew the contract that he had for the past few years. Cruise’s contract with Paramount expired last month. The main reason most think that they will not pay Cruise the high wages he requires is because of the profit margin made on Mission Impossible III which if we all remember correctly did not meet the expectations of the studio and the studio will only break even which means Paramount didn’t make any money off of it. Tom’s lawyer Bertram Fields states that they got a new offer from Paramount and him and Cruise are discussing it. Fields thinks that Paramount wants to keep Cruise as well as the Cruise/Wagner production company. Cruise’s new deal is suspected to be much less than before and is rumored to be only $2 million a year which means that Cruise himself will have to pay his staff which I am sure he isn’t going to want to do. It should be interesting to see where this goes but I am pretty sure Cruise has enough money at this point but then again when you get paid a certain amount its hard to lower your standards even though Cruise is probably one of the richest actors in Hollywood.
