Emily Nakanda – the youngest of the X Factor finalists – has been forced to quit the show after shocking videos of her beating up another girl were discovered on Thursday.
Emily, 15, is rumoured to have been involved in the “happy slapping” craze after The Sun newspaper revealed grainy mobile phone stills of Emily hitting, kicking and pulling the hair of a girl – only known as Anna - after they were involved in an argument.
Further footage of the once-hopeful Emily also showed her arguing with a boy, where she threatened to gouge his eyes out with a knife.
A spokesman for the show said "In response to the stories in the papers this week regarding Emily Nakanda, we have conducted our own investigations into the matter and we can confirm that she has chosen to withdraw herself from the competition with immediate effect.”
Judge Sharon Osbourne, who acted as Emily’s mentor, said: “I am deeply saddened by this whole situation.”
